Growth in Two-Factor Authentication

go3abbThis CRN article reflects what we're seeing with VASCO - that two-factor authentication is growing in Australia. We're seeing some organisations realising that weak authentication methods such as passwords provide little security and high management costs, whilst others that already know this are deciding that the risk of not using strong (two-factor) authentication are too high.

One issue with the article is that it contrasts biometric authentication with two-factor authentication - they are in fact both forms of dual factor authentication.

In basic terms, the difference is:
Biometric Authentication - something you know (eg username) & something you are (eg fingerprint, retina, palm)
Two-Factor Authentication - something you know (eg PIN) and something you have (eg token)
